Giving Tuesday

Dear DSA Family,

As we celebrate Thanksgiving in new ways this year, I realize how resilient we have been as a community, and how many things we have to be thankful for. While our students are not onstage or back stage, they continue to pursue the arts that brought them to DSA. Teachers have not only forged new ways to teach virtually, but they have also continued to connect through DSA clubs and traditions. Our Principal has worked hard to communicate through virtual channels during this unprecedented time. Our students have shared their creativity through DSA social channels. And, the school is growing to adapt in many ways that will enhance the arts and educational experience in the future.

Parents have made generous contributions toward the Enrichment Fund and in support of Teacher Appreciation. Many gave in memory of Courtney Ellis, a fund dedicated to additional support for teachers. With these funds, PTSA has been able to ensure that DSA is a member of the national Arts School Network and that faculty have the opportunity attend their professional development conference. PTSA has also paid for 11th grade PSAT and proctor meals, supplemental arts education opportunities and academic clubs like Reading Bowl and Science Olympiad. We are currently investing in virtual file storage, video production support, and a platform that will help students audition virtually at DSA and as they apply for college.

We hope you tune into "Cornucopia," a virtual production that highlights creative works from all DSA arts departments. Grab a cup of hot chocolate, sit down as a family and tune in on December 1st at 7pm:

And, add your support to our first annual GA Gives #GivingTuesday Campaign. Your investment will help bring additional arts and academic enrichment as we move into 2021.

While we cannot sit in a large auditorium at this time, we can come together in celebration of our small school that brings a cornucopia of creative opportunities to our students.
