2017-2018 NAACP ACTSO Program Information

The NAACP's Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics is a yearlong achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students. ACT-SO includes 29 competitions in STEM, humanities, business, and performing, visual and culinary arts. Over 300,000 young people have participated in the program since its inception in 1979. The Mission of ACT-SO for almost 40 years has been to prepare, recognize and reward youth of African descent who exemplify scholastic and artistic excellence. Please help us this year by getting your students involved in ACT-SO. On Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the Scott-Candler Library, the DeKalb County branch NAACP will host an ACT-SO informational and enrichment seminar for student interested in competing in 2018.
Please find the flyer attached for more information. Also, you make contact Freda Hammonds, Dekalb County ACT-SO Chair with any questions at 678-499-2446.
