"Black History Tour Show : The Dinner Table"

DeKalb School of the Arts is pleased to announce this year’s Black History Tour production entitled The Dinner Table.  This student written work centers on the Carters, an upper-class African American family consisting of three generations living under one roof.  The setting is current day Georgia amidst racial turmoil in the community. The Dinner Table touches on and highlights different questions, thoughts, actions, and lessons learned from three very different perspectives all trying to navigate and deal with similar prominent issues which seem to linger in the African American community.  While members of the family are dealing with similar issues through different lenses, they don’t always agree. However, it’s at the dinner table where they don’t just eat, but share stories and experiences which ultimately strengthen their family bond.
